- 200 grams Ground Beef (80/20 lean to fat ratio)
- 1 burger buns
- 2 Slices Cheese
- 1 Sweet Onion
- 1 Tomato
- Pickle
- Ketchup
- Mayonnaise
- Relish
Place the 200 grams of ground beef in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Gently mix to distribute the seasoning without overworking the meat.
Take the seasoned ground beef and form it into a loose ball.
Place the ball of beef into your burger press using paper on both sides of the press. Press down evenly to form a patty that's about 5 cm. thick.
Carefully remove the patty from the press and freeze the patty for 15 minutes. This step helps the patty hold its shape during cooking.
While the patty is chilling, preheat your pan or grill over medium-high heat.
Remove the patty from the freezer. Remove the paper, season and place it on the hot grill or pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side for a medium-rare to medium doneness.
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on top of the patty to melt.
While the patty is cooking, split your bun and toast it lightly on the grill or in a pan for a crisp texture.
Place the cooked cheese-topped patty on the bottom half of the bun.Add your chosen toppings. Ad the lettuce on the bottom (to avoid the burger juices from sogging up the bread. Top with tomato, onion and the pickle and then add the sauces desired. Finally, close it with the other half of the bun.
